Five Things To Do In Marbella

The One-Hour Luxury Guide

Five Things To Do In Marbella

that aren't Puerto Banús.

The Guide

Five stops, in the order we would do them

Marbella has two reputations and only one of them is deserved. Away from the marina noise there is a quieter town: early training, long lunches, padel at five, dinner under orange trees, and it happens to be the best version of the place. These are the five stops worth building a day around, and one wardrobe carries all of them.

Coffee on the Golden Mile, post-training

NO. 01

Coffee on the Golden Mile, post-training

The town works out early, and so does its best light. First table on the boulevard, cortado, ten minutes with a notebook before the day starts asking questions.

Good to know

The Golden Mile is the four-mile stretch between Marbella town and Puerto Banús, walkable end to end, and at its best before nine.

Sabine Beach, the calm opening of the year

NO. 02

Sabine Beach, the calm opening of the year

Fifteen minutes east of town on Playa Real de Zaragoza, opened this April: sand tones, linen, sun-bleached wood, and a kitchen built around fresh fish. A bed, a book, no plans until noon.

Good to know

C. Atenea, Playa Real de Zaragoza, twenty minutes east of town. Opened April 2026 on the old Aquí Te Quiero Ver site; restaurant tables and beach beds are booked separately.

Lunch at LPM, Puente Romano

NO. 03

Lunch at LPM, Puente Romano

La Petite Maison landed in the Puente Romano gardens this year, the cuisine of Nice on the Golden Mile. Sit outside, share the burrata, let it run past three.

Good to know

Puente Romano Beach Resort, Golden Mile. The same Niçoise menu as the London and Dubai rooms, ask for a garden table when you book.

Padel at Puente Romano's racquet club, five o'clock

NO. 04

Padel at Puente Romano's racquet club, five o'clock

The real social hour on this coast. Book a court and a coach; the terrace afterwards is where the introductions happen.

Good to know

Courts and coaches go by the hour at the Puente Romano racquet club, the padel centre of this coast. Book two days ahead for five o'clock.

Dinner in the old town

NO. 05

Dinner in the old town

Two streets behind the noise: orange trees, whitewash, candlelight, tables that don't hurry you. And keep an eye on Villa Tiberio, TATEL is arriving there, with half of Spanish sport behind it.

Good to know

The casco antiguo sits five minutes back from the beach, with Plaza de los Naranjos at its centre. TATEL takes over the Villa Tiberio site on the Golden Mile.

Why It Costs What It Costs

Made in Portugal. Built to outlast the season.

The Atelier

Cut and finished by a family-run house in northern Portugal that has made swimwear for forty years. Small runs, and the same four hands on every pair.

The Cloth

SEAQUAL® yarn spun from upcycled marine plastic recovered from oceans, rivers and coastlines, built to hold colour through salt, chlorine and August sun.

The Treatment

Olive oil, red wine and sun cream lift out under a cold rinse. That is the difference between a swim short and something you can sit down to dinner in.

Every piece above is designed around the whole day, pool to padel to dinner, so you pack one bag and stop thinking about it.

Portofino Without The Crowds

The One-Hour Luxury Guide

Portofino Without The Crowds

five stops, done properly.

The Guide

Five stops, in the order we would do them

Portofino is small on purpose. A single harbour, a handful of restaurants, a hill of umbrella pines, and a rhythm that rewards anyone willing to arrive early and stay late. Skip the midday rush off the tenders and you find the version the regulars keep for themselves. Five stops, in the order we would do them, and one wardrobe that carries all of them.

Morning espresso on the Piazzetta

NO. 01

Morning espresso on the Piazzetta

Before the day boats arrive, the harbour square belongs to the village. Take the first outside table, an espresso, and watch the last of the fishing boats come in.

Good to know

The Piazzetta is the small square where the harbour meets the village, ringed by cafés and at its calmest before ten.

The climb to Castello Brown

NO. 02

The climb to Castello Brown

Ten minutes up through the umbrella pines and the whole bay opens beneath you. One of the finest views in Liguria, and usually a quiet one.

Good to know

Castello Brown is the hilltop fort above the harbour. The path begins beside the church of San Giorgio.

A swim at Paraggi

NO. 03

A swim at Paraggi

The one stretch of sand near Portofino, a short walk or water taxi around the point. Clear green water, a row of loungers, and lunch with your feet almost in the sea.

Good to know

Paraggi is the small bay between Santa Margherita and Portofino. The beach clubs rent loungers by the day.

Aperitivo as the day boats leave

NO. 04

Aperitivo as the day boats leave

As the crowds thin, the light turns gold on the painted facades. A negroni, a bowl of olives, and the best seat is any one facing the water.

Good to know

Harbour-front tables fill from six. The western side of the square holds the sun longest.

Dinner on the harbour

NO. 05

Dinner on the harbour

Ligurian cooking kept simple: trofie al pesto, the day's fish, a bottle of Vermentino. Stay until the harbour lights come on.

Good to know

Book ahead in season. The terraces over the water are the first to go.

The Mayfair Day, Done Properly

The One-Hour Luxury Guide

The Mayfair Day, Done Properly

five stops.

The Guide

Five stops, in the order we would do them

Mayfair rewards the unhurried. A square mile of galleries, tailors, quiet restaurants and rooms behind unmarked doors, best explored on foot with nowhere in particular to be. This is the day we would build, from a morning coffee to a table that runs late, and the wardrobe that carries all of it without a change.

Coffee on Mount Street

NO. 01

Coffee on Mount Street

The most handsome street in Mayfair, at its best at nine, before the boutiques open. A flat white, a slow walk past the red-brick facades, the day still your own.

Good to know

Mount Street runs between Berkeley Square and Park Lane. The flower displays alone are worth the detour.

A morning among the galleries

NO. 02

A morning among the galleries

Cork Street and the Royal Academy have shown the work worth seeing for two centuries. An hour inside is the most civilised way to spend a London morning.

Good to know

Cork Street's galleries are free to enter. The Royal Academy sits two minutes away on Piccadilly.

Lunch, unhurried

NO. 03

Lunch, unhurried

Mayfair does lunch better than almost anywhere: a corner table, a bottle at midday, and nobody moving you along. Sit by the window and let it run.

Good to know

Book a table for one o'clock and keep the afternoon open.

The walk through the parks

NO. 04

The walk through the parks

Berkeley Square down to Green Park and back, the city's noise falling away under the plane trees. The best way to earn the evening.

Good to know

Green Park sits at the foot of Mayfair. The walk on to St James's takes about fifteen minutes.

Dinner, then a nightcap

NO. 05

Dinner, then a nightcap

An early table, then a quiet room for a last drink. Mayfair keeps its best corners behind unmarked doors.

Good to know

Reserve dinner for eight. Many of the best bars sit inside the hotels.

Five Things To Do In Dubai

The One-Hour Luxury Guide

Five Things To Do In Dubai

before it gets loud.

The Guide

Five stops, in the order we would do them

Dubai runs loud by design, but the good version is quieter and starts early. Beat the heat, keep to the water and the old city, and the day rewards you. Five stops, in the order we would do them, and one wardrobe that carries all of them.

The Marina before the heat

NO. 01

The Marina before the heat

The promenade belongs to the early risers: a coffee, the water still, the towers catching the first light. Walk it before nine, before the day turns to glass.

Good to know

The Marina walk runs roughly seven kilometres around the water. The shaded side is the eastern edge.

The beach club, mid-morning

NO. 02

The beach club, mid-morning

A day bed, the Gulf a flat warm blue, and lunch that runs into the afternoon. Some of the city's best hours are spent horizontal.

Good to know

Most beach clubs line Jumeirah and JBR. Day beds are usually booked separately from the restaurant.

Old Dubai and the creek

NO. 03

Old Dubai and the creek

Cross the water by abra, walk the spice and gold souks, and find the city that stood here before the towers. The best hour of shade in Dubai.

Good to know

An abra across Dubai Creek costs a single dirham. Al Fahidi's lanes are the oldest part of the city.

Sundowners with a view

NO. 04

Sundowners with a view

As the heat breaks, the terraces open. A drink above the skyline while the towers light up one by one.

Good to know

The rooftop bars sit inside the Downtown and Marina hotels. Sunset tables go first.

Dinner, late

NO. 05

Dinner, late

Dubai eats late and eats well. Take an outside table once the evening cools, and let it run.

Good to know

Book for nine. The best terraces are along the water.
